Hellooooooo Blogosphere!
I've resurrected my blog in order to convey some information, but really just to get more people praying for us. So, if you're not willing to pray for us, then stop reading now...
Just kidding, you can read what you want.
All that to say, for some time now, the Hubster and I have been considering adoption. We have several dear friends who have or are in the process of adopting. We are SO PRO ADOPTION. Not only because we are compelled by scripture to care for orphans (James 1:27), but we want to be a part of the physical representation of how God adopts believers as children through the sacrifice of Christ.
Here's where it gets interesting. We are pursuing embryo adoption.
"What's that," I hear many of you asking yourselves. Thanks for asking, I was just getting to that.
Wikipedia says, "the giving—generally without compensation—of embryos remaining after one couple's In vitro fertilisation, or IVF treatments, to another person or couple, followed by the placement of those embryos into the recipient woman's uterus to facilitate pregnancy and childbirth in the recipient. Most often, the embryos are donated after the woman for whom they were originally created has successfully carried one or more pregnancies to term. The resulting child is considered the child of the woman who carries it and gives birth, and not the child of the donor. This is the same principle as is followed inegg donation or sperm donation."
Basically, when people choose in vitro fertilization to have children, often there are "left over" embryos. But those "left overs" are people. Little tiny human beings. When there are "left overs" (ugh, I hate using that term) the choices are to terminate the embryo (kill a baby, let's just say it plain, here), donate it for research (where they still kill the embryo), and now ADOPTION. The biological parents sign over the rights to the children. Then, a couple chooses embryos and has them implanted into the adoptive mother's womb, where she carries the baby (or babies) until they are ready to meet the world! You should probably read what Russell Moore has to say about it. He says it way better than I do.

It all sounds a little weird. We know that. But, these are babies who we believe deserve a chance at life!
Anyway, we thought it would take several months to get started. Welllll, it was more like, SEVERAL DAYS. This process is going VERY VERY fast. There are two little embryos just waiting for us. So, on June 10th we have our transfer day and if all goes well, we will know on June 20th if the babies implanted or not.
Here is where you come in.
We are asking for you to pray with us for two major things before and ESPECIALLY on June 10th:
1) That our babies would "thaw" well. Our babies were "frozen" using older technology, so they have a lower likelihood of surviving when they are taken out of their frozen state. We believe that The Lord can do amazing things no matter what modern medicine tells us.
2) That our babies would implant well. We are praying they find their home and get nice and cozy!! :)
Thanks for taking the time to read this. We would be so grateful for your prayers.
If you want to know any more about why we made this choice, please get in touch with me.
